I'm not sure how you have your ipod set up, but you need to turn off one touch purchasing in iTunes I believe..this will make sure you type in a password to buy/install apps. I'm the only one that uses my ipod/iphone and I still have that turned on just in case it goes missing and someone decides to buy everything in sight.

It isn't all tweens that are doing this. My 3-year old son was playing with my iPod Touch. I installed the free app Touch Zoo, thinking it was something I could keep him occupied with.

Well, within the next 15 minutes he bought 10 bags of stars - something I didn't know about until I received the $10 invoice from Apple the next day. He didn't know what he was doing - he was just randomly pressing buttons.

Now, to be honest, I had a feeling this might happen someday (the boy seems to get into EVERYTHING), and $10 is a small price to pay for a lesson learned for me. So I disabled the ability to install apps on that iPod Touch. Just for good measure, he's been banned from iPod Touch use unless it's a circumstance when he's fidgety and I need to keep him busy (like at the grocery store or a restaurant). Thank goodness he didn't purchase 100 bags of stars.

Still, it would be nice to have an option (in the restrictions menu) to require the password to be entered every time an app is purchased. That would make my life easier.

While we're at it, the boy almost deleted some videos of himself from my iPhone. I would have been upset, because they were videos from when he was a baby. Can we get another option in the restrictions menu that prevents photos from being deleted?

You ain't kidding. I drive by an Apple Store every morning for work, and there are always the same three Asian college - age students waiting outside 3 hours before opening. I assume they're there everyday hoping a new shipment came in overnight. I'm in the wrong line of work.

Well, every morning I try to go get iPad a bunch of white people are out there and you know some are selling them on EBay.

    Damn white people

This is so on the money.

I was just having lunch while watching a film on my iPad. Next table over a table of business people are showing off one of their new iPads. People respond so positively to the experience on so many levels it really has something for nearly everyone.

The important thing that apple got was that making great computers for 2% of the population, or smaller, was one thing. Making a great piece of hardware for 95% of the world something else entirely and much more lucrative.

With 80.2% percent of revenue based on stuff other than Macs for Apple, this makes sense.

If I were a PC user finally comfortable with a new PC and (pretty good) Windows 7, I wouldn't really need a Mac. What can a Mac add for me?

But the iPad is so portable and incredibly powerful for its size and price it's hard to say no to it. Apple has already shown a whole world of PC users how indispensable iPods and iPhones are, so we came out with iPad for Mac users and non-Mac users and from the numbers we are making a killing.

I don't know if both Steves had this type of vision that far back unless they were hard core Star Trek fans or something with a long range vision of making really cool devices. I thought they were all about the personal computer in the beginning, and of course their own operating system.

How will War on Terror Change after "Osama Bin Laden" can't be used

Unfortunately, I doubt it will change anything regarding our domestic panicking or foreign military intrusions. It's not like Obama injected the name of Osama Bin Laden to justify sending drones into Libya a couple of weeks ago. The death of the dollar/US economy, not the death of Bin Laden, will end our ongoing wars, whether those wars be abstract wars "on terror," or actual, needless invasions halfway around the world.

All right, let me rephrase that: government funds plenty of things, like libraries and parks, that aren't "necessary" but wanted. If you want to keep the argument on the federal level, substitute your own examples, including national parks. (Remember Bush trying to push them towards privatization?)

If you have a balanced budget, and you suddenly unbalance it with tax cuts, the difference between revenue loss and spending is pretty much a matter of semantics. You had the money, and now you don't. At least when you spend it on a service, you expect to get something for it.

Maybe one of the problems with House Republicans is that they don't think of tax cuts that they can't afford as spending.

If you ask me, it's pretty clear Apple will update all of its laptops before the holiday season. I personally can't wait to buy a new MB, because my 600 MHz G3 iMac is getting a bit sluggish. My question is this: Will it be a simple CPU upgrade, or will Apple change pricing and/or other hardware (such as HD capacity, RAM, etc.)? Oh, and how long do I have to wait?

They're switching from ASUS to Foxconn so hopefully you'll get a Macbook that doesn't turn off Randomly in the middle of important work.

The argument is using Tax Dollars to pay for the abortions as it is forbidden by Federal Law for Planned Parenthood to use the funding in that way...of course they have found ways around it, which is the cause for concern..Me personally, I am on the fence on the entire issue as I am not a woman. That stated, I don't believe abortions should be used as a birth control device either....

Using that logic, military funding is supposed to pay for troops and operations but I'm sure they've found ways around it. Business subsidies are supposed to catalyze business but I'm sure it's being abused as well. So just like Rep Jim Jordan, I'm not going bother providing any evidence of corruption - I'll just throw out a platitude like "money is fungible," argue we should cut off funding, and act like people who don't agree with me are idiots.

Meanwhile, there's no actual proof that Planned Parenthood is funding abortions with taxdollars. But I guess that's not important.

And in the bigger picture, all this abortion debate being pushed by the Republicans ignores the fact that the topic of abortion is a totally marginal to what Planned Parenthood does. I'm a guy and I used Planned Parenthood in my early 20's for STD testing. My girlfriend used Planned Parenthood for pap smears and once, after she went in with a UTI, they were able to diagnose she had HPV and give her a treatment plan.

I really can't understand why most of the GOP doesn't see value in a social service that provides education, counseling, diagnosis and treatment when this is all blatantly obvious to anyone who's ever walked into a Planned Parenthood waiting room. Maybe they don't get laid enough to care.

On that note, I respect Scott Brown a lot more now.

This survey is seriously flawed. I've been unable to secure an AT&T iPad within the 3 stores near me.

Verizon iPad? They have them, at all combinations. Wi-Fi? Hit and Miss, but AT&T iPads are gone.

Maybe they made way more Verizon iPads? Seems like they would not??? Also, could be that so many iPhone customers in the US are AT&T, they are just naturally migrating to what they know.

I know... many here don't like AT&T, but does the average non-techie care?

In the business world, you need to be able to make a good impression. If you have a flashy website and nothing behind it, you're going nowhere. If you have good substance but poor presentation of it, you can still succeed, but it can be a lot harder than if you've got it presented well.

Sitting down for an hour with GoLive would provide them with a much better front door to the world. Starting a tech company is hard, but it's easier if you excel in all areas of your business. And yes, publicity is one of those areas.

It's not that they didn't take the time, it's just that your website has to look like that if you're going to comply with Every W3C and CSS regulation. :D

You're talking about a whole country. As it is right now there are more iPhones in NYC than anywhere else. In order for this to be true it would mean tens of thousands of NYers, at least, are having their personal info stolen.

Why is that not unrealistic? NYC has 8.3 million people as of 2008. Even if 99,999 people had their identities stolen for iPhones, that's only 1.2% of the population. Consider that as of 4.6% of the population were victims of ID fraud according to the Federal Trade Commission.

I think it would take less than 99,999 cases in a concentrated area for AT&T to consider potential fraud a problem. Even 50,000 iPhones and accounts lost due to fraud would cause about $15 million in losses, assuming an average $300 subsidy per iPhone.

Also: it's not just ID theft that could be the issue here. there are other ways to scam iPhones off AT&T and resell them.

    Also, why only the iPhone?

Because it's a hot item, and continues to outsell other smartphones quarter after quarter?

Because lots of people are looking to buy "nearly new" iPhones on eBay and cragislist, and are willing to pay more in some cases than retail for them?

Because it's easy to jailbreak and unlock, and can be sold that way at a premium to countries where it's in short supply or not yet sold?

Wouldn't these thieves with all their stolen info just move onto another AT&T phone that costs just as much? Such as BB?

Because BB's aren't as easy to unlock, the BB PINs are traceable by the Blackberry network regardless of carrier, and they're just not as much in demand. People don't stand in lines for Blackberries. They have for iPhones.

Just because a channel can't garner enough subscribers doesn't mean it's crap. Look at the stuff these days that get the ratings. This is what cable TV may be reduced to if forced to go ALC.

I'm not saying that ALC is bad; some days, I'm on your side. I flip flop on this all the time because there are such goodsides and downsides to this. Change can be good, but there are always unintended consequences to change. In the end, it's just TV, so there's nothing earth shattering. Just good, honest debate.

BTW, this has gotten way off topic. Sorry.

I have a condo in Italy and The Philippines. In Italy it's about $17 USD and I get all of the channels they offer, about 120, which does include ESPN, and does include Disney... In Manila, PH I get 95 channels for $9.50 USD per month, and I get 100 channels, even HBO.

Sure, in most international markets they don't have 17 ESPN and 15 HBO versions. But who really watches HBO Signature Black NorthEast?!?!? LOL... it's just a way the channels negotiate higher renewal rates with the cable company... like when you buy a car and they try to up the price by throwing in something else which has no value.

Moving from Outlook is a good think no matter what. The databases used stinks. It chokes at about a million records and sooner or later, it will slow down, become lazy and before you know it... done. Corrupted... just like a US politician. :D

Oh, I know. i've forced most of our employees to move to Web based as we use Google Apps, but a few select have been allowed to stick with Outlook on the Windows side (or in this case Mail.app on OS X).

So what about pap smears, cancer detection, HPV detection, STD testing and immunization, sex education, and all the other things that don't have to do with popping out units that the GOP will also be killing?

Maybe we should also tell women that in the name of personal responsibility, they need to learn how to detect cervical cancer their own damn self. Maybe we should also tell a guy with Chlamydia that he should buy a chemistry set and invent his own damn cure.
Sounds like a bunch of services your family doctor or gynecologist would be capable of performing.

As for sex education, again, NOT THE JOB OF THE GOVERNMENT.

I am sorry I don't agree with the government giving these services as free hand outs to people who don't have health insurance or can't foot the bill.

Sorry I am not a fan of paying for other people's social services.

    Actually, I am not sorry.
